Returning and Picking Up Items at JHES, 9/4/20, 9:30-11:30

Fri, 08/14/2020 - 9:38am

EVERY JHES STUDENT HAS SOMETHING TO PICK UP ON FRIDAY, 9/4! Please come pick up a laptop and/or instructional materials for virtual learning. Students will receive a packet of art supplies, math materials, and reading materials (K, 1, 2).

On Friday, September 4th from 9:30-11:30, JHES staff members will be in the school parking lot to assist families in picking up student materials to include Chromebook laptops and additional paper materials/supplies needed for English Language Arts, Math, and Art needed for the 20-21 school year.  At this time, families who did not pick up their yearbook earlier in the summer are also able to do so. This is also a time for any items (library books, classroom or teacher loaned materials, instruments that are no longer needed, etc.) that have been borrowed to be returned to school.  Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide any students or families access to the school.  Please read the following procedures carefully and completely to assist in a smooth and safe pick up process for our staff volunteers and families.

Please know that our number one priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of every student, staff and family member during this process. We ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

  1. Students and parents/guardians should remain in their cars during drop-off and pick-up of materials. Students and parents/guardians who will walk/bike to the school should also adhere to social distancing expectations throughout the process and will be directed by HCPSS staff upon arrival.

  2. Students and parents/guardians must wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines at all times.

Materials Drop Off

Materials must be returned to the school they were borrowed from (i.e. the student’s 2019-2020 school). It is up to the discretion of each HCPSS school to set collection and distribution dates. All materials returned will sit for a four-day period as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention prior to being inventoried. If your child attended a different school last year, please go to that school’s website to view their collection plan so that you can return materials to the correct school.

Please Note: If you already have an HCPSS issued Chromebook laptop, you DO NOT need to return this to us.  Your child should keep this for the 20-21 school year.  If you were sharing devices in a family with more than one child, an additional device will be given to you.

Materials Pick Up

Students attending Jeffers Hill Elementary in the 2020-2021 school year will pick up instructional materials to include Chromebook laptops, art, math, and ELA materials at our school. Our initial distribution plan is outlined below and we will communicate future distribution opportunities as needed.

BEFORE you arrive at JHES

  1. Put any items for return in your trunk.  Please make sure the items are easily visible and marked with your child(ren)’s name(s).

  2. Prepare a paper sign with your child(ren)’s last name(s) and grade level(s) written on it in large, bold letters so that it is easily visible to staff.

AFTER you arrive at JHES:

  1. Enter the parking lot via the Tamar Drive entrance and drive to the front of the school building.

  2. Open your trunk. When a JHES staff member approaches, please hold your sign up in the passenger side window.

  3. Please wait in your car until items have been delivered into your trunk.  The staff member will close your trunk.  To respect social distancing guidelines, please remain in your car throughout this process.

  4. Exit the parking lot via Majors Lane.

  5. If you plan to walk to Jeffers HIll to return and/or pick up items, please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing.  Staff members will assist you when you arrive.  Look for the table designated as "Walk Up Area".

Please use this map as a guide when coming to JHES on Friday, September 4th.

Thank you for your collaboration in this process. Please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions.
